PACK 3 FANS with Footprints (animals, leaves, birds):
This pack includes the following fingerprint fans:
WILD ANIMALS :
The fingerprint fan is a tool that has been specially designed for the field.
It is particularly suitable for outings in forest and mountain environments. It was created to identify animal footprints directly on the spot.
It is made up of transparent cards on which are represented the footprints of the most common wild animals of the forest and the mountains. These footprints have been represented to scale (except for the bear of course) which allows the user of the tool to quickly find the animal that left its footprint, and even to superimpose the transparent sheet on the imprinted on the ground.
The tool in question corresponds to a leather pouch inside which there are 20 transparent cards which pivot around an axis and which therefore unfold like a fan, hence its name.
The 20 sheets allow you to identify the following fingerprints:
fox,

LEAVES :
The “Tree Leaves” Fingerprint Fan is a field tool designed to recognize the main trees found in nature in France. It is made up of double-sided descriptive sheets.
On the front of the cards, there is a drawing of the leaf (with branch and bud) as well as a small description, on the back there is additional information concerning the species (description of the flower, the fruit, the bark, environment in which the tree can be found, use of wood, etc.). Ideal for your outings or hikes in the plains or in the mountains, this light and resistant tool fits easily in a pocket or at the bottom of a backpack.
It contains 30 flexible and water resistant PVC plugs. It identifies 29 species: False acacia locust, Common walnut, Common ash, Mountain ash, Sycamore maple, Field maple, Montpellier maple, Beech, Hornbeam, Cherry, White service tree, Field elm, Holm oak, chestnut, Alder glutinous, Silver willow, Hazel, Linden, Silver birch, Aspen, Sessile oak, Pedunculate oak, Downy oak, Red oak, Wild service tree, Scots pine, Silver fir, Common spruce, European larch.
This tool has many advantages:
It does not take up much space and it is light, it easily fits in the pocket or at the bottom of the bag.
It does not fear the rain unlike a book because the cards are made of plastic and the cover is made of leather.
It is complementary to naturalist books on trees because you can use it on a walk and then back home you consult the book to learn more.
It is very easy to use (from 10 years old).
It can be used by children or adults on their own but also by activity leaders, mountain guides or teachers...
Tool design and manufacturing methods
The leather case is made using classic leatherworking materials. The sheets are produced by a small printing and screen printing workshop based in Alès in the Gard. The manufacture as well as the final assembly are carried out in a traditional way by a single person.
