BUTEO - AQUILA Mark III Double Hide Tent - Brown (720170), Green (720172) or Dry Grass (720171):
NEW VERSION!
The Aquila Mark III Hide Tent is the ideal hide for photographing animals and birds with two people!
Developed by nature photographers!
The Aquila Mark III is perfect for short-term use (up to several months). In case of prolonged exposure to the sun, the color may fade slightly.
In case of rain, you will always stay dry: the awnings, the possibility of closing everything hermetically (while still being able to take photos) and, optionally, the additional rain awning make this tent more weatherproof than ever!
New version of the AQUILA with several improvements:
Positive points:
+ Space for one or two people, chairs, photo equipment and backpacks.
+ Keep yourself and your equipment perfectly dry.
+ No noise from the skin, invisible in the skin.
+ 2,500 mm hydrostatic head for water resistance.
+ Perfectly camouflages yourself and your equipment thanks to 4 different camouflage patterns.
+ New perfect window and nose cover system.
The Aquila Mark III is the latest version of our two-person hide tent.
We have looked closely at the areas for improvement and listened carefully to the feedback from many users and ambassadors of these wildlife and bird tents.
Thanks to clever applications, the Aquila Mark III is much more resistant to precipitation, keeps you perfectly dry in "bad weather" and has better windows for photography and observation.
The tent outside:
More clever applications make the tent much more resistant to precipitation moisture:
There are additional awnings on 3 sides, which prevent precipitation from penetrating through the insect net, and which better protect your lens from precipitation.
In addition to protection against precipitation, this hood also serves as a sun visor, the photo window with your lens will be more shaded and therefore less visible.
These awnings can all be folded up when not in use or not needed. If you leave the tent up for a longer period of time, this is also useful because your tent will be less visible, and it will also be less sensitive to wind.
The improved construction with longer poles that extend to the bottom allows the tent to keep its shape better.
8 pegs: Longer and stronger than previous versions. 18 cm long, made of black aluminum, triangular in shape.
The use of (thicker) strings on all zipper slides and the absence of velcro prevent annoying noises.
All windows are locked with a zipper, so there are no more windows through which water can easily enter.

The tent inside:
All windows and mosquito nets can also be controlled from the inside.
The ropes and "tunnels" inside the tent are brighter in color for better visibility in the dark.
Label with instructions.
Photo and viewing windows:
All photo windows are much wider than before, at 40x36 cm. (bxh) The photo windows are also viewing windows (window in the upper part), and are therefore also much wider than in the Buteo Mark II. There are therefore no more small separate viewing windows as in the previous version.
Thanks to a zipper that can be operated on both sides, you can enlarge or reduce the viewing window as you wish.
All windows are fully lockable thanks to high-quality zippers, which allows them to be closed tightly. (they can be operated from the inside and outside).
No Velcro was used, so no more annoying noises!
The window bug nets consist of two sections that overlap in the middle and have an elastic band to securely enclose your lens.
These bug nets are attached to the tent canvas by a zipper, allowing it to be opened completely if desired or if you want to zip in a snoot/sleeve as an alternative photo window (see snoot description below).
The bug nets are alternately vertical or horizontal.
The advantage of vertical is that there is more headroom, allowing you to vary the height of your lens. This headroom is also useful for taller or shorter people.
The window bug nets in the photo, front and right side, are positioned vertically.
The advantage of the horizontal is that it is a little easier to swivel right and left, especially for filmmakers.
The insect nets in the windows in the left photo are positioned horizontally.
Photo windows with 3 alternating heights are distributed on 3 sides. A large panoramic window for filmmakers is on the left side.
In rainy weather, it is even possible to close the outer fabric of the photo windows and use a zipper in the middle to close them around the lens, so that the tent is tight but you can still take pictures (see photos).
The sides that you do not use for photography can, however, serve as observation windows by partially opening the zipper, more or less wide as needed.
Carrying bag:
The strap of the carrying bag/backpack is longer (but adjustable), which makes it easier to carry.
Separate compartment on top of the carry bag for accessories such as pegs, guy lines, etc.
The tent fabric itself is a strong, waterproof polyester (150D, 2,500 mm hydrostatic head) that lasts a long time. Please note that the weather resistance may decrease a little if the tent is left outside for months or even longer.
Taking pictures from the tent hide:
The spacious entrance has a high-quality zipper, stays well to the side when open and is also equipped with an insect net in the same camouflage print. Thus, the tent with the (slightly) open door remains perfectly camouflaged.
Once inside the tent, you can see that it is very dark due to the black coating on the inside. However, the zipper strings, the edges of the storage compartment and the "tunnels" for the fiberglass poles in the roof are more clearly colored, so that they are still easy to see in the dark.
The photo and observation windows are provided at 3 different levels:
Two at the front (at eye level).
On the left you will find a wider window with a mosquito net, in which there is a "normal" photo window.
At the bottom left, a photo window is provided for low-altitude shots.
On the right you will find two more photo windows at eye level, just 10 cm lower than the windows at the front.
All insect nets on these windows can be partially or completely unzipped. This allows the observation window to be resized as needed. These windows are wide, which gives you a perfect view of the outside. On the left and right sides you will find the same options to maintain a good view. The rear door has a small window that can be closed tightly.
The cover has enough space for your seat, your tripod with camera/lens and a backpack or camera bag. At the front you will find a storage compartment where you can store small items.

Optional, (items coming soon):
A matching Snoot/Sleeve:
Buteo Photo Gear offers a matching snoot/sleeve to replace the original photo window.
The snoot has the advantage of camouflaging your lens with the same waterproof fabric and camouflage pattern as the skin, and of protecting your lens well against rain, snow, dust, etc.
Another advantage is that your hands are less visible when handling the camera.
The snoot fits perfectly on any photo window, can be easily zipped up and has its own viewing window at the top with a fixed net. This observation window can also be fully or partially closed on the inside, and can be enlarged or reduced at will thanks to a zipper that can be operated from both sides.
The larger insect net of the tent can be closed when using the snoot, but it can also be used as is, because your lens fits through it.
Finally, you can also use the polyester outer fabric in bad weather. It has a zipper through which you pass the lens and then close the fabric so that you and your equipment are protected as much as possible against precipitation (see photos).
An additional rain canopy:
An additional rain canopy can be useful to make the roof of your Aquila Mark III even more waterproof.
If you want to leave the tent up for longer, or if you want to be 100% sure that not a drop will seep through the roof again, this is the ideal solution. It gives you a polyester flysheet above your head, as well as a hydrostatic head of 2,500 mm.
This rainfly fits exactly to the existing roof and can be easily attached to the 4 corners with a hook.
A matching groundsheet:
The groundsheet used with the previous version can also be used with the Mark III.
This groundsheet has the same basic dimensions as the tent (150x150 cm) and is made of 0.4 mm thick PVC fabric (Oxford polyester).
The water column of this groundsheet is not less than 10,000 mm!
Weight : 5000.00 g
