JAMA - BIR3 Infrared Barrier for CANON and PENTAX (RS-60E3):

The new version of this IR barrier will allow you to "intelligently" manage the camera and the flash that accompanies it depending on what you want to do.

If you want to take pictures of nocturnal mammals, bats, passerines in flight, or water drops, the settings are very different. On this IR Barrier you have a function selector numbered from 1 to 9 which corresponds to a use.

The infrared receiver will manage the camera and flash intelligently to capture nocturnal mammals, bats, passerines in flight, or water drops.

The BIR2 infrared barrier can be used with the BIR3 either in cross barrier mode or in parallel barrier mode. The Bcross mode will allow you to be selective on a specific area of ??the beam. The parallel mode will increase the shooting possibilities since it is enough for one of the two IR beams to be cut to trigger the camera or the flash.

Here is a description of the nine possible functions:

Normal: simple camera triggering like the BIR2.
Top-mirror: this function keeps the mirror raised which gives a low reaction time. Ideal for shooting insects or passerines in flight.
Flash wake-up: that is to say reactivates the flash every 90s to prevent the flash from going to sleep. This function will be very useful for photos of nocturnal raptors.
Wakes up the flash as soon as the beam breaks and triggers the shot 2.5s later. This function is intended for photos of nocturnal mammals.
Opens the shutter for a variable duration and triggers the flash as soon as the beam breaks then closes the shutter and starts a new sequence. If the beam has not been broken for a predefined time the shutter will be closed and reopened 2.5s later.
This function is perfect for photos of bats in flight.
Opens the shutter and triggers the flash after a variable time then closes the shutter. This function is suitable for shots of water droplets in the studio.
Identical to mode 1 but with the possibility of putting a second barrier in parallel which increases the triggering possibilities and therefore success.
Identical to mode 2 but in parallel mode.
Identical to mode 5 but in parallel mode.

Modes 1 to 6 manage the Bcroix which is integrated into the BIR3.

In addition to these 9 functions, the receiver can be powered by 4 AA batteries or accumulators, which gives more autonomy.

The outputs are on 3.5 mm stereo jack (and therefore different from the BIR2)

The transmitter has been optimized for minimum power consumption and works with a 9v battery or with the optional Alim1 which allows it to be powered with 6 AA batteries.

The IR transmitter and receiver set will be delivered to you with a remote control cord dedicated to your camera. This cord has a length of 10 m without an extension. If this length seems too short or too long, we can make a cord to the length you want.

As an option, you can get a cord to trigger your flash.

This new barrier will significantly increase the success of your shots. It is the result of many years of experience in our workshop on the production of IR barriers. If you already have a JAMA IR barrier, it will be usefully integrated into this new set.
