The curious reader will also find in the general chapters information on paleontology, the diversity of bats across the continents, the biogeography of European species, the biology of bats, the relationships that man has with these species.

Chapters dedicated to identification are proposed for visual recognition and by studying their acoustic signals.

This new edition has been completely updated. Much information from recent sightings has been added and the distribution maps have been updated by a regional network of bats from across the area covered by the book. About fifty new photographs also illustrate the book.
