BOOK:
Species Identification, Study of Their Habitats, and Hunting Behaviors by Michel Barataud.
This book on the acoustic ecology of European bats summarizes the author's knowledge of ultrasonic detection acquired over more than twenty years.
Nocturnal animals, bats have developed a sonar-like spatial location system. Inaudible to the human ear, bat calls can be perceived, recorded, and analyzed using various devices and software.
To the initial, purely auditory approaches, Michel Barataud adds another dimension: identification through computer analysis of ultrasound.
Thanks to increasingly powerful detectors and computer analysis, the method described makes it possible to identify approximately 85% of acoustic contacts in Europe, conduct inventories, and undertake increasingly detailed studies without disturbing the animals.
Highlights of the book:
The method described makes it possible to identify approximately 85% of acoustic recordings of bats in Europe (35 of the 42 bat species present in Europe).
Chiropterologists thus have a non-invasive bat tool for conducting inventories and monitoring.
Access to over 300 downloadable online files that can be used to practice and develop skills in identifying bat sound signals.

BATBOX BATON:
The Baton is economical and full of resources. This bat detector uses frequency division and detects all frequencies simultaneously, from 20 kHz to 120 kHz. The Baton is the only economical detector that allows you to listen, and if you have a laptop connected to the device, you can record and view bat ultrasounds.
Lightweight, with a single power button. The Baton divides the frequency by 10, which means that a frequency of 50 kHz will be audible at a frequency of 5 kHz. Comes with English-language sound analysis software specially developed for the Batbox Baton. Very easy to use, it allows you to listen to all ultrasounds on all frequencies at the same time, so you don't miss any bat flights, regardless of the species.
To use the software, you need a digital recorder or a laptop and a jack-jack connection cable (not included). This Baton also allows you to analyze insects that communicate via ultrasound.
Included on the CD are sound samples from CS to help you identify different species.
CD in English.
Comes with a slipcase.
Weight: 100.00 g
Note:
Comes with a CD to help you identify bats and analysis software.
